Backed by warranty
Your unit is covered by the manufacturer warranty, and we service our own installs, so there is someone local to call if anything needs attention.
Why Queenstown homeowners choose us
No brand pressure and no guesswork, just heat pumps properly sized for the coldest populated corner of the country and installed by a team that lives here too.
Sized for alpine cold
We spec cold-climate units that hold their output in sub-zero temperatures, because a heat pump sized for a milder town simply cannot keep up with a frosty Queenstown morning.
All the major brands
We fit Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic and Toshiba rather than pushing one label, so you get the unit that genuinely suits your home and budget.
Honest, fixed quotes
You get a clear, fixed price up front, with the things that move it up or down explained plainly. No vague estimates and no surprises on the day.
We back our own work
We service and repair the systems we install, so if anything ever needs attention there is a local team who knows your setup and can sort it.
Local to the Queenstown Lakes
We know the difference between a single-glazed cottage in central Queenstown and an exposed new build at Northlake, and we size each home accordingly.
Warmer Kiwi Homes sorted
If you might qualify for a Warmer Kiwi Homes grant, we will talk you through the criteria and the paperwork so you do not leave funding on the table.
Brands we install
We fit all the major brands rather than pushing one label, so you get the unit that suits your home and budget. For Queenstown winters we lean on cold-climate models that keep their heat output when the mercury drops below zero.
Not sure what size heat pump you need?
Use our quick sizing calculator to get an estimate in a couple of minutes. Answer four questions about your room and we will point you to the right capacity for a cold Queenstown winter.
Areas we cover
We cover the whole Queenstown Lakes and Central Otago district, from the cold valley floors around Frankton and Lake Hayes to the frost pockets of Wanaka and Hawea. Wherever you are, we size for the local winter.
Queenstown & the Wakatipu
From single-glazed cottages in central Queenstown and Arrowtown to new builds at Jack's Point and Shotover Country, we fit systems that cope with cold air pooling on the valley floor.
Wanaka & Hawea
Wanaka, Albert Town and Hawea Flat sit in genuine frost pockets at around 300 metres, so we specify cold-climate units that hold their output through hard continental winters.
Common questions
How much does it cost to install a heat pump?
Most installs in the Queenstown Lakes run from around $2,200 for a small high-wall up to $6,000 for a large room, with multi-room systems from $5,500 and ducted whole-home setups from $14,000 to $28,000 or more, all fitted. The final price depends on your home, the unit you choose and how involved the install is. Our heat pump installation cost guide breaks down every system in a simple table.
Do heat pumps work in very cold weather and frost?
Yes. Modern cold-climate heat pumps are built for exactly this. The key is choosing a unit rated to hold its heat output down to around minus 15 degrees, because a standard model sized for a milder town will fade on a frosty Queenstown morning. We size and specify every system for hard alpine frost, not mild winters, and you can compare the options on our heat pump types page.
What size heat pump do I need for my home?
It depends on the room size, ceiling height, insulation and how exposed the home is to the wind off the lake. As a rough guide a bedroom might need a 2.5kW unit while an open-plan living area can need 6kW or more, and cold valley-floor homes often need to go a size up. Our heat pump sizing calculator gives you a quick estimate, and we confirm the exact size on site.
Can I get a grant for a heat pump?
You may qualify for a Warmer Kiwi Homes grant of 90% of the cost up to $3,450 including GST. To be eligible you need to own and live in a home built before 2008, hold a Community Services Card or SuperGold Combo Card, and not already have a fixed heater in the main living area. See our Warmer Kiwi Homes grant page to check where you stand.
